Italian 114.01 Major Italian Authors TTH 2:50-4:05 Allen 318 Textual studies of the most important authors of the Italian literary tradition. Authors may vary. At times the course devoted to single author: Dante, Boccaccio, Pirandello; or, two or three authors studies together in the context of the culture of their time or of their influence on subsequent centuries or authors: Petrarch and Petrarchist phenomenon of the sixteenth century, Morante and the historical novel, Machiavelli and Vico
Italian 131.01 The Italian American Experience Professor Luciana Fellin TTH 11:40-12:55 Allen 226 Interdisciplinary approach to the study of the different forces that have shaped Italian American identity and culture in the United States. To study the Italian American presence in the U.S., and its contributions and representations in American society, students will be exposed to Historical, Anthropological, Linguistic and Cultural studies, and will be requested to develop a final on-field research project with members of the Duke, Triangle, or other communities.
